President's Report

Last Friday, our newly installed 2017/2018 APICS Atlanta Board of Directors met for the first time. We are fortunate to have over 20 leaders from a variety of backgrounds willing to serve the Chapter and help us grow. We laid out the vision for where our 50+ year old organization is headed and shared a variety of areas where we are looking for volunteer leaders to help. If you are interested in volunteering or sponsoring APICS Atlanta programming, please reach out to me & we'll plug you in!

Special thanks to all of our volunteers and our sponsors: ShowMe50, Vanderlande Industries and TalentStream.

APICS Train the Trainer Workshop

Interested in improving your facilitation skills and/or becoming an APICS instructor? Consider attending this two day workshop: August 4 & 5, 8am to 5pm.

About the course:   The Train the Trainer course establishes a foundation of presentation skills as well as training skills, strategies, and capabilities that will lead to increased success with experience and feedback.  The focus of Train the Trainer is training, or an activity or programmed instruction that results in observable, measurable performance by the learner. Learning is the acquisition and use of knowledge. At the simplest level, it is straightforward recall or recognition of facts. At its most complex and abstract mental level, it involves evaluation, assessment, and judgment.  This two-day intensive course is a hands-on, do-it-yourself opportunity to practice developing and delivering training presentations. A successful and reliable set of tools will be provided that you can use in any training situation. You will receive constructive feedback from trained instructors/facilitators as well as your peers.

Executive Roundtable Discussion: Supply Chain Transformation: A Case Study

August 23, 2017

Transforming a supply chain can be a significant emotional event. Not only must you properly align the end-to-end supply chain to the organization's overarching business goals - - but the leader of the transformation must also constantly communicate the process of the effort to the organization, address the fears and uncertainties involved with change management, limit scope creep and keep the end goal in mind. Utilizing tools such as Lean Six Sigma, SCOR and the latest technology can be a force multiplier or a distraction if not implemented properly.

Please join Blake Mathies, Vice President of Supply Chain for Vanderlande North America and a newly minted Certified Supply Chain Transformation Architect (CSCTA) as he discusses a Supply Chain Transformation that he and his team recently embarked upon. This robust initiative is near completion and will be featured in an upcoming article of Supply Chain World magazine. Blake will discuss the leadership lessons learned, utilization of the APICS SCOR framework, Lean Six Sigma & other tools used, communication and change management strategy and other pertinent aspects of their supply chain transformation.
